ITV has confirmed that it will launch its HD channel (which will be renamed from ITV1 HD to just ITV HD) on the Freeview platform in time for the 2010 World Cup.
Freeview HD is still on target to launch in December in Manchester, and will be rolled out gradually to the remainder of the country by the start of the 2012 Olympics in London. It seems that sports broadcasts are the focus of HD services at the moment – alongside films.
Interestingly, ITV HD is already available on Freesat but at present, there is no news of ITV HD being available on subscription based satellite services from Sky, keeping it purely free-to-view.

When will HD Freeview TV recorders [with WI-FI for internet] be on sale,as I understand HD Freeview is broadcast in the London area.
@Keith – Freeview HD Recorders should be available shortly. Humax have already released their first Freeview HD Receiver (see http://www.freeviewhdbox.co.uk for details) and said they will release a recorder shortly afterwards. There is also a new company, 3view, who are intending to launch their first device which will have Freeview HD recorder (twin tuner) capability, along with integrated iPlayer-type functionality. I will add a review as soon as they are available.
People are under the impression that freesat has the same channels available as freeview why the great silence on this issue? When are all the channels on freeview going to be available on freesat. When is itv hd available in central Scotland. Why can’t the roll out run from North to South for a change? instead of always being last to receive new services.
